My Covid-19 Experience

I'm sure if theres one thing we can all agree on it that 2020 has been hard. I like most was out of work for 6 months and now i am finally allowed back things still aren't the same.

Now don't get me wrong i am so so thankful to be back and my heart goes out to everyone in the event sector that hasn't been as lucky. But my student numbers plummeted on return going from 250 to 120 students and my school that i'd pored my heart and soul into for the last 8 years was fading away.

I was also silly and provided online pre recorded and zoom classes for free during lockdown. I initially thought lockdown would only be for a couple of weeks and it would give me something to do. 6 months later and were still in lockdown, part of me worries this diluted my worth but the other part of me thinks i would of gone crazy in lockdown with nothing to do.

I think the most frustrating thing about this whole year is that its been completely out of anyones control. However now we are back i can control how hard i work to build it back up, i keep telling myself i started with 3 students, i can grow it again. I am so grateful that covid-19 hasn't affected me and my family more, i know i am lucky.

Now classes are back i am trying my hardest to make them as fun and safe as possible whilst trying to grow my business and build back what covid took.

This is me finding my way back into the world i love and finding new and exciting ways to teach in a covid secure way.

I hope this help a few dance teachers not feel so alone and hopefully together we can start to rebuild.
