Identifying Your Target Market

Identifying Your Target Market, this sounds very technical and scary but is key to growing your business quickly. This is how you identify your super customer, the customer that's going to love your service, pay on time and sing your praises to all there family and friend. Sounds perfect doesn't it! Now lets get clear on who they are.

Step one - Pick a class?

Its important to pick a class you are looking to grow first, Theres no point advertising your preschool class to mums in there 50's with two 10 year old sons.

Step Two -Who are they?

Now you have decided on the class your advertising too its time to think who they are. Male/female? Age? Income?

Step Three - Where do they live?

This may be a large area or a really small area. Get specific! Do you know specific estates that are full of families with preschool children or an estate that is an expensive area with families with more disposable income.

Step Four- What do they want?

If your classes are for children they may want a class that increases confidence or improve posture ? Think hard about what you provide and what your target market wants from you.

Step Five - Where do they spend their time?

This is a really important step, take your time and put down as much detail as possible.

Online - do they love facebook, are they constantly active in mum groups or following fitness bloggers

Offline - where do they hang out ? coffee shops? parks? gym? school playground?

Once you have done this step, you now have a list of places you need to be advertising!

Why Is This Important ?

These people are the perfect fit for your business and by knowing who they are you can target all your marketing and money towards them rather than advertising to any one who will listen and hoping for the best.

Bonus step - What do they Google!

You want them to click on your website first. one of the ways you can help them do this is by thinking "what do they type in to google when searching for a dance class?" It could be creative dance classes Southampton or baby dance classes Eastleigh. Then once you have a list of searches, PUT THEM IN YOUR WEBSITE.
