Cause Baby Your a Firework 🎆

'Remember Remember the 5th of November Gunpowder Treason and Plot'

Fireworks night is such a pretty and beautiful event and it lends itself perfectly to a dance class. Here are a few ideas how we used fireworks to inspire our classes.

Props.

Of course there has to be a prop involved! I think a prop helps keep a young class engaged and inspired (and usually quite) These are supposed to be for weddings that aren't allowed confetti but we thought they looked like sparklers. They are fairly cheap with 10 sticks costing £5. We brought ours 3 years ago and they have lasted well with only a few breaking (we are planning to buy some more for next year )

*Where*

We found ours on Ebay by searching Twirling ribbon wands.

Port de bras.

We created a short phrase using the fireworks to encourage straight arms and a floaty feeling. Before flying the firework round the room on their tippee toes. If you are an IDTA school preparatory ballets 'dancing arms' phrase leads itself well to this.

Jumps.

We use fireworks or rockets to describe a powerful jump like a saute or a soubresaut. So what a great opportunity to use our theme to really hammer our point home. We used our sparklers to shoot up in the air as they jump helping them really use the floor.

Dance Dance Dance.

This year we did a dance's to Firework by Katy Perry and Burn by Ellie Goulding using lots of long stretched arms, circles and turns. Adding formation changes for our older classes.

You could even challenge your older classes to make up there own phrase matching a formation set by you.
