Using Facebook To Boost Retention
Facebook is an amazing tool with the average person spending 3 HOURS A DAY on Facebook! This means it is an invaluable source of communication not only with new customers but existing customer and most importantly parents. Here are a few way to use Facebook to improve retention within your classes.
Private Facebook Group.
If you don't have a Facebook page... get one now, with our Facebook page guide it's super easy :) Create a private Facebook group and link it with your Facebook page.
1. Open your Facebook page and click on groups on the left hand menu.
2. Click Create Group
This will the open a box with a few options, where you can name your group (We recommend something easy to type/find like your dance schools name followed by group/ parents etc ) I.e. Footsteps School of Dance Parents Group
You can then add parents by name or ignore this and send an email round to your parents with a link to the group after you have finished setting this up.
You then need to decide your privacy setting. Public, Private or Secret. We recommend private so it is an invite only group meaning you can upload documents and newsletters with out the whole world having access to this information.
Now you have set your group up add your logo and a fun cover image from class. You now have another way to communicate with your parents. *We upload payment sheet, show guides, emails and letters given out in class.. That way if they loose it or say they didn't get it they have it all at there finger tips! *
A Peak Into Class.
Use Facebook to share photos and videos from class. We don't let parents stay in class and kids don't always tell them what they did in class. I had one parent tell me dance class is like fight club (what happens in dance class stays in dance class). So it is our job to fill the gap and show them how much fun they have had so they come back week after week! A simple smiley photo or small video can do this easily or have some fun with the boomerang or slow-mo app.
Is a dance looking particularly good this week or everyone is super smiley, take advantage of this and post a Facebook live! it doesn't need to be long but these rank highest on Facebook, meaning more people will see your post!
More Than Just a Class.
Don't constantly share adverts, nothing turns people off more than sell, sell, sell. Instead you want to Give, Give, Give. Share posts of thing that your dancers parents will find interesting like video clips from west end musicals, posts about pointe shoes or the benefit of dance for kids for example we post a motivational quote every Monday to wish are parents a happy Monday!
